CAMP OVERVIEW
This April, decipher the amazing world of clues and codes to be a super sleuth in our “Code Detectives” coding camp and follow in the footsteps of Enola Holmes and her famous brother Sherlock.
Designed for children aged 5 to 12, our camps offer a fun and educational experience where kids can tap into their creativity, make new friends, and engage in hands-on projects.
All activities use age-appropriate, child-friendly coding platforms and are fully differentiated, so beginners feel confident and more experienced coders stay challenged. Children will develop logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills while building exciting projects they can be proud of.
Crack the code
Every day at our Code Detectives camps children will be challenged to solve a new puzzle - and use their curiosity, creativity and coding skills to reveal the truth!
This exciting new camp will be enthralling for students new to coding as well as our most experienced coders. Come along and add the power of your enquiring mind to our mystery-busting team.
Programs / Languages
Students will learn to code using the programmes CoSpaces, Scratch and p5.js (JavaScript).
They will solve a brain teaser a day using code, create worlds where every corner holds a hidden clue and undertake STEAM challenges and activities to explore things such as how DNA can be extracted and analysed!
Experienced Teachers
Our experiences teachers are Cypher certified, DBS checked, and attend regular training sessions with us to ensure they are providing an enriched and fun learning experience that supports your child's development.
They will guide students every step of the way, providing the tools and support to help them develop their coding skills through hands-on learning, collaboration, and real-world applications!
On/Off-screen balance
With plenty of outdoor playtime included, children will also have fun staying active, making new friends, and applying their creativity both indoors and out!
Each day will be an adventure, as students take on new projects that feature robotics, electronics, Micro:bit, coding, and more! Our creative coding curriculum helps kids to build confidence and get the most out of technology

What will you teach my child?
Children at a BetaGen camp will use a variety of different technologies and platforms during camps. Children will use either Scratch, p5.js or Delightex to complete a stand-alone coding project. Usually, this will be a game or animation that is related to our theme.
STEAM projects vary a little more from day to day. During a week at camp children will have the chance to build and program robots (Wunderkinds, Lego robots), program and use a Micro:bit, create an electronics project, and use their creativity in a craft and art focused activities
We also incorporate age-appropriate AI principles into our coding camps by teaching kids how computers learn, make decisions, and use data in fun, hands-on ways. Campers also learn about responsible and ethical use of AI, helping them become thoughtful and creative digital makers.
Does my child need to bring a laptop to camp?
Campers do not need to bring their own laptops. All computers, robots and teaching materials are provided by BetaGen
Does my child need coding experience?
No prior coding experience is required. We cater to both beginners and more experienced coders, although some basic computer and keyboard skills are recommended.
